Synopsis

Trapped inside the body of the clone Match, Jericho has come to the Titans for help to release him.  The Titans place him under restraint while Cyborg devises a plan to release Jericho, but Match is able to break free.  Jericho claims he can’t control Match, who attempts to break free.  The Titans attempt to subdue him.  They succeed long enough for Cyborg to craft a way to release him.  Only after Jericho is free do they release that Match was never in control.  And now Jericho has made contact and is within one of the Titans.

Review by Binkley (e-mail)

This issue was actively bad or anything like that.  I would even go so far as to say it wasn’t bad, but neither was it particularly good.  I guess it is tough to make a bad comic out of an extended fight sequence, which is exactly what this is.  Early on, Match breaks free and the rest of the comic is a battle with the Titans.  Each of the Titans member gets a chance to shine and show off their talents, but fail miserably to subdue Match.  I guess this just shows how inept they are.  I kid.  Just a little.

I do wonder about the ending.  How did Jericho turn out the lights?  Is this some kind of power he has always had or is this something new?  And if the power is out, and presumably the Titans are blinded by the sudden darkness, how did he manage to get inside one of them.  I thought he had to make eye contact.  Is that possible in the dark?  Well, I guess it is, but at least one person would have to be able to see in the dark in order to find the eyes to look into them.

On Page 3 and on Page 10, the signature for penciler Julian Lopez and inker Bit appear in the bottom of the page.  This is a little odd, as you only see signatures for covers.  I wonder why it is here; a mistake by the colorist not to cover it up?  For the one on page 10, I could see that being a potential cover, but the two-page splash I doubt it.
