Review by Binkley (e-mail)
Is it just me or does this issue seem to end abruptly? Kid Devil and Miss Martian manage to escape the Dark Side Club with relative ease. The fight with Robin and the Clock King doesn’t even continue from the previous issue as Ravager comes to the rescue. And then it is over. Now mind you, I am not complaining about the ending, I liked the fact that the Clock King would try to seduce Ravager to his side, but it happens so quickly and so swiftly that I feel like I have whiplash. I suppose it is a sign that I enjoyed the story enough that I would have liked to see more, such as Kid Devil’s reaction to being controlled by the drugs or Robin’s realization that for all of his training, he was outmatched by the Clock King. Mostly, however, I think I would have liked to have seen more of Ravager’s actions before she finally showed up at the end. Essentially, this is her story. It is her conflict. She does not fit into the Teen Titans because of her methods and willingness to do terrible things, but at the same time she doesn’t fit in with the Terror Titans because she wants to do good in the world. Both sides of her get shown her, but like the rest of the issue, it happens so quickly that it doesn’t really sink in. As a result, the ending doesn’t resonate. We are not really sure why she is search of the Clock King or what she hopes to find when she does find him. It is an ambiguous ending, which I am guessing is the point, but there was not enough in this issue to make me care about it.
