Synopsis

In Gotham County, Miss Martian and Robin are approaching the Teen Titan headquarters, when they see the future Titans Army and current Teen Titans fighting the army of Starros.  Meanwhile, Blue Beetle tires to convince future Flash to help.  At first Flash doesn’t agree, but when the Starros get close, he changes his mind.  Flash then uses Captain Cold’s gun to freeze Starro and then shatter it to pieces.  Passing over Kansas, Cassie Sandsmark (aka current Wonder Girl) realizes that future Superman is a clone because has no memories of their time together.  Elsewhere, now free of Starro, the Titans Army continues its plan to kill Blue Beetle and Ravager.  Nearby, current Tim Drake is talking to future Tim Drake (aka Batman) when Cassie arrives to tell him that future Superman and Flash are clones.  Tim and Cassie agree to let Conner go and move on.  Just then future Conner arrives, angry at their betrayal.  Before he can attack, future Batman shoots Conner, who then disappears.  Suddenly, all of the Titans Army disappears, ending the threat.  Eight years from now, Tim is approached by Lex Luthor regarding the future of the Teen Titans and the cloning of Conner Kent and Bart Allen.

Review by Binkley (e-mail)

I would like to be able to say that at least this is the end of this storyline, but the final page indicates that DC is not going to let go of the Titans of Tomorrow.  I am guessing that Johns’ original story did well enough that DC believes that have a viable tentpole to build this series around.  And I have to agree that Johns did a good enough job with the first arc not to leave it alone.  However, I honestly don’t think McKeever got as much out of the second arc of the story as he could have.  For the past three or four what we have gotten is fight scene after fight scene after fight scene. It is kinetic and fast paced and rushes headlong from Titan to future Titan, but there really is no sense of the characters and the dilemmas they face when they meet their future selves.  There is an overabundance of characters and not even space devoted to get them all into the story.  I appreciate the use of Blue Beetle and the other Titans, but really the main story is Tim and Cassie and how they have dealt with those they have lost in their lives.  Beyond those two, adding other characters is just window dressing.  Perhaps if McKeever had scaled down his ambitions with the story, he might’ve been able to make something deeper and beyond just fighting people with stars on their face.

So, I guess Starro was an official member of the Sinestro Corps.  I find this interesting.  The first issue of the story indicated that the Justice League met the threat of the Starros and failed.  Does that alter what happened in the Sinestro Corps story, with the JLA fighting in New York City with the rest of the heroes?  Or am I just nitpicking.  Yeah, I’ll leave it alone.

There are three cloning tubes on the final page.  In the center would be Conner and to the reader’s left would be Bart, judging by the red hair.  So, who is on the reader’s right?  For that matter, who is on the other side of Bart?  Both clones look to be female.

Wasn’t it in the previous issue that Blue Beetle and the Titans Army were in San Francisco at the Titans headquarters?  What are they doing in Gotham County and the original lair?  Did I miss something here?
