Synopsis
In New York, Deathstroke and his allies have captured the Teen Titans. One of Deathstroke’s allies had been a drug-controlled Batgirl, but with the help of Robin she is now free. She attacks Deathstroke, but she is stopped by Jericho attacking his own father. Meanwhile, Raven has been captured by the daughter’s of the Riddler and the Joker. Raven is able to talk to the Joker’s daughter and get her to help Raven. The two women then rescue Cyborg from the clutches of Risk. Elsewhere, Kid Devil has lost his powers thanks to Kid Crusader, but with a little help from Miss Martian, he is able to get away. Meanwhile, Wonder Girl, Superboy, and Robin continue their fight against Deathstroke and his allies, but they are overwhelmed and are defeated. Deathstroke tells his allies they will kill the Titans. However, Cyborg has returned with a little help from Nightwing, Flash, Beast Boy, and Troia.
Review by Binkley (e-mail)
This issue was a big colossal mess, which is not necessarily a bad thing. But, then again, it is not necessarily a bad thing. There is a lot of stuff going on here and I liked the kinetic energy and the huge battle at the end, but I think the structure or layout of the comic focuses too much on some stuff (Wonder Girl and Match) and less on others (Joker’s Daughter). The switch from one side to the other for the Joker’s daughter was way too fast; blink and you might miss it. I realize it is supposed to show how unstable she is, but it doesn’t register in such a short period. The same could be said for the Kid Crusader bit in which we get his origin and transformation in less than a page. Conversely, we get almost four full pages of Wonder Girl beating on Match. He reminds her of Conner, I get it. I don’t need so much of it. I don’t need to be beat upon the head with it. Ultimately, however, the issue accomplished very little. It started with the Titans beaten by Deathstroke and that is pretty much how it ends, with the exception of the older Titans joining forces.
I am not really sure how I feel about the ending. Part of me likes it, because seeing the different generation of Titans band together is always a thrill. But at the same time it undermines the current Titans, who will now be saved by others.
So, when Jericho inhabits another body, he can talk? Was it always this way? I can’t remember. I may have to dig out older issues to see. If this is the case, then rather the sign what he is saying, perhaps he should take over a body and speak through them.
