Synopsis
In space, Supergirl is approached by Kell Massa (aka Pariah), who tells her that she has the ability to break the chain of events in her life for a better outcome than what she had been shown by Dark Angel. Supergirl then returns to Earth intent on breaking the chain by making amends with those in her life, first Captain Boomerang, Jr., then Wonder Girl and the Teen Titans, then Power Girl, then Streaky, then Sarah, and finally Superman.
Review by Binkley (e-mail)
The final issue of Joe Kelly’s run picks up on all threads from his run and tries to tie them all into a neat little bow. I am not entirely convinced it works, but at the very least it will allow the next writer to attempt to start from a clean slate. The angst-ridden Supergirl that many people did not like is perhaps gone, allowing the new writer to take Supergirl to write more like she has been historically presented or in a different direction all together.
The problem with this issue in particular is that it seems choppy at times, as if Kelly had written a longer (multiple issue) story that needed to be cut down to fit into this issue. Perhaps he had to leave (or was kicked off) sooner than he expected? The Teen Titans especially suffers from this, not in terms of understanding that they are fighting to see who does the dishes, but also seeing the fallout from their “battle” after Ravager’s attack.
The best part of the issue was Pariah’s speech and Supergirl’s reaction to it. Oh and the headband, although I didn’t like it, but I did like everyone’s reaction to it.
