Review by Binkley (e-mail)

This was very much a transitional issue, featuring the end to the long-simmering Liana subplot, as well as a couple of epilogues to the just finished story with the rescue of Knockout from Hell.  Amongst all of this we get an amusing vignette of Bane on a fairly normal date, impressing the woman with his skills and his bravery.  Taken as a whole, this is a pretty good issue, but taking a closer look and it doesn’t quite feel right.  Mostly, I think this is due to the Liana storyline, a subplot that has been going on for awhile and then ends anti-climatically.  I am not complaining with what Simone provided, mind you, I liked the whole idea of Randall trying to get to the car but failing miserably.  I guess I am disappointed there wasn’t more to the story.  It seems like an awful lot of preamble for very little story content, if that makes sense.  As for the scene with Ragdoll, it feels like a variation on what happened in the previous issue; I don’t think it adds up to much.  And then ending with Jeanette doesn’t really do much, except to kinda peter out, as if Simone ran out of pages and decided that what she had was good enough.  It was flat, lacking an exciting, romantic, and/or mysterious hook to lure the reader in, which a transitional story like this needs to do.
