After she leaves, Robin finds a small piece of paper in the fake Batgirl mask. He finds a coded message that tells him to bring David Cain or Cassandra Cain (aka Batgirl) will die.
Review
This was just an okay issue. I am intrigued by the overall mystery, so the ending was nice to have, but for much of the scenes in this issue, I was one step ahead of everything that happened. It bugs me when I am smart enough to accurately predict the character’s next move; the story should surprise me, not play along with what I am thinking. First, I knew right off the bat that Robin would escape the precinct by removing his uniform and I knew the moment they showed the piece of paper that it was written in code.
Another little nitpick: why is it writers fall back to the standard cliche that when two characters are uncertain about each other they must fight. There was no reason for Robin to attack Shiva. Sure he may be a little wary of her motives, but does that mean he needs to attack her? And, while I am at it, isn’t there a better way to get to the evidence room than entering the police department in costume? perhaps a disguise?
Maybe it is just me, but I amused that Tim put his Robin costume back on, inside his own home. The first thing I do when I get home is take off my work clothes so why wouldn’t Robin do the same. I can understand Batman keeping his uniform on, but at least when he leaves the cave, he puts on regular clothing.
