Synopsis

Four days ago…Tim Drake (aka Red Robin) takes advantage of the access give to him by Ra’s al Ghul to mess around with the League’s computers.  Now…Tim and Tamara Fox are surrounded by the Council of Spiders, who think they have killed Ra’s al Ghul.  When they realize it is a body double, their leader the Wanderer orders them dead.  Despite the odds, Tim is able to hold his own against the Council, until he receives help from the League.  Tim then orders everyone to evacuate just before he activates a computer program the destroys League hideouts around the world, including where they are located.  However, Tim is able to get Tam to safety.  When Ra’s realizes what happened, he tells Tim he believes in an eye for an eye, as he stares at the Wayne Tower in Gotham City.  Tim realizes he needs to return to Gotham.  Later, the Wanderer and the Council emerge from the rubble.  They now have a new target…heroes.

Review by Binkley (e-mail)

I liked this issue.  Maybe it’s just me, but I like issues in which the fight is broken down and we get an analysis of what is going on and why.  I liked the way it was played out, with Tim not necessarily winning, but at the very least holding his own until reinforcements arrive.  That entire section was done very well.  Where the story breaks down a little bit is the way Tim hits the league.  Mind you, the idea that Tim could orchestrate that level of destruction using the League’s computers is a little far-fetched, but, hey, this is comics, so I am willing to buy it.  What I didn’t like is that it happens way too early.  I think the idea of Tim working for Ra’s is a good one and I think DC should’ve explored this idea a little bit more.  Granted, the upcoming Return Of Bruce Wayne may have a lot to do with it, but I wish the idea wasn’t tossed away so quickly.  Having said that, I think it makes sense for Ra’s to hit back and it is a good way to get Tim back to Gotham, so I am looking forward to whatever is coming up next.  I just wish it was happening so soon.

Based on this issue, I am guessing that the Wanderer put together the Council to bring down the League of Assassins. What I am unsure about is the reasons why.  The story indicates the Wander was bit by spiders and emerged from the jungle with the ability to kill people with a single touch.  But how she goes from scared girl to ruthless killer is not explained very well.  Maybe I missed it.  The story needed that explanation, the reason why the Wanderer was after Ra’s.  Is it because she was annoyed Ra’s tried to recruit her?  It just seemed like the story skipped over her motivation.

Who the hell would want to give themselves the name of “Sac.”  I mean, really?  What is the first thing you think of when you hear, “My name is Sac.”  Yeah, I thought so.
