A couple of issues too late, I think, but this is the type of story that should have been told awhile ago: Dick attempting to find a place for himself in the world. With a new location and therefore new characters, Dick’s world should have been settled some time ago. Hopefully now we’ll see the beginnings of a new supporting cast.
The scene between Bruce and Dick was handled well; you can sense Bruce’s affections for Dick without him actually stating it while you can also sense Dick’s gratitude for that affection. In the One Year Later aspect of the DC Universe, it was nice to see how much they care for each other.
I am also pleased that the Lorens storyline has not been completely. The so-called ending in the previous issue turned me off, but at least there is still more to go. Nightwing’s involvement with the Lorens family seems odd to me; I would think after doing what he does for so long he would not get attached like he has, but as long as the case remains unsolved, I guess it would made sense for Dick to keep in touch.
I am a little disappointed that Nightwing didn’t defeat the marine faster than he did. Nightwing is supposed to be one of the best martial artist fighters in the world. Even with the bum shoulder, he should’ve won that fight a little quicker.
It is really horrible that even after the priest was revealed and Nightwing learned that the hospice was actually a positive place for kids, that I thought it was still going be revealed to be a bad place. I mean, how jaded and cynical can I be to continue think that kids can’t congregate without drugs being involved?
