Synopsis

It is the morning after...Carter and Kendra share a quiet breakfast together in bed, knowing full well they will soon need to suit up and go back into war that is still raging in Sector 2682.  After helping Adam Strange protect Rann, they realize the galactic storm is bigger than the war.  Hawkman tells them they must do what they do...continue to fight.

Review by Binkley (e-mail)

The best part of this issue was the quiet moment with Carter and Kendra in bed, talking to each other and generally enjoying each other.  It is nice to see these characters behave in ways I can relate to rather than continually seeing them defeat “countless alien hordes.”  Other than that, this issue essentially felt like a big recap to remind the readers of the big Event going on in the DC Universe.  And then, like a lot of the current issues just before the One Year Later leap, there really no ending so much as a fade-out.  The only thing missing is the voice-over announcer telling us to find out what happens next in the Infinite Crisis special.  Coming soon!  Oh, wait.  Sorry.  Anyway, these last three issues have been painful to read and I think a large number of the DC titles suffer from the same problem:  knowing the One Year Later will completely change things, there is no incentive to do much with these issues.  DC probably should’ve stopped some of these titles earlier, waited a few months, and then relaunched.  Of course, that would’ve meant lose revenue, but sometimes losing money is a better than your audience actively disliking your product.

I was amused by the scene with all of the hawks’ clothes strewn over the floor, including the mace, which apparently cracked the floor.  Ha!
