Jordan tells Gardner he got the okay and the two head off into space. In Paris Double Dare are stopped by the new Crimson Fox, with a little help from the Global Guardians. Jet offers Crimson Fox a spot in the Global Guardians. Fox turns ‘em down. Jet tells her it doesn’t matter, Crimson Fox is now a member of the Global Guardians. In deep space, Jordan and Gardner find the home of the Manhunters, who instantly attack. During the battle, Jordan realizes these are the new Manhunters with the power to drain their rings. They fly away and come across several Green Lanterns tied up. Suddenly Jordan gets hit by ... the Superman android that had originally destroyed Coast City.

Since the return of Hal Jordan, I have always been interested in learning more about the ramifications of what Hal had done to the corps. I always thought it would be a good story line and wit the appearance of Tomar Tu in the previous issue, I was excited about what was going to happen. And then this issue came along and now I am not that excited. There are two direct problems, as I see it. The first is the confrontation in the lunch room. Rookie lanterns want to kill Jordan for what he had done. I just don’t get it. I am not sure how long the corps did not exist in DCU time, but it was at least a couple of years. So, why would a lot of the rookies care one way or another? If I joined a team that had been disbanded years prior, I think I would be content the team was assembled once more than trying to get back at the guy that ruined in the first place. To me the entire situation seemed gratuitous, a chance to get an action scene into a very talky issue. My other problem is that Johns introduced a lot of stuff occurring on earth, including the Global Guardians, which appears briefly in this issue, but all of the action so far is in outer space. I think, given all that happened in the last issue, I was looking forward to more of the Earth scenes, learning what happened to the other fighter pilots, learning more about the treaty, etc. I am guessing that will be covered in 52. I suppose my reaction to this issue is more related to my expectations than anything else, because I did enjoy reading it and I am curious to see where it will go with the Superman robot.
