Synopsis
In Sector 2263, the war between the Green Lantern Corps and the Sinestro Corps continues. In Korugar City, Green Lantern Soranik Natu is in the midst of addressing the people of her homeworld when Sinestro appears. In Sector 3009, Green Man searches for his partner Stel. When he finds him damaged and hurt, Green Man decides to take him to Mogo for help. Elsewhere, Arkillo tells the Sinestro Corps to prepare for battle. On Korugar, Sinestro tells Natu that he wants her to remain on the planet and protect his homeworld. To do that, Sinestro fakes his defeat. When the people believe she won, they ask her to lead them. On Oa, the green Lantern Corps prepares to take the battle directly to Qward. Meanwhile, Green Man and Stel have reached Mogo at the same time as the enemy.

I have always said that one of my favorite characters from this series has been Soranik Natu, so to see her prominently displayed in this issue was very much welcome. I love this part of the storyline, as Natu has to deal with her own self doubts as well as her own people, who were weary of Green Lantern after what Sinestro did to them but are eager for someone to lead them. In this way I am reminded of Dobby or Kreacher from the Harry Potter series; creatures who needed someone to tell them what to do in order to survive. It shall be interesting to see where this heading, not in terms of how Natu will handle her new situation but also what Sinestro has up his sleeve in terms of this maneuver.
The cover states this is Part Three of the Sinestro Corps War while the first page indicates this is Chapter Two if the Sinestro Corps. While this issue does tie into the main story of the war, it is not a continuation or even a part of the main Green Lantern book. I like this idea in which the two books exist in the same big event but don’t really connect in its plots.
The brief scene at the end with Salaak and Sodom Yat was a little weird and odd that Gibbons would focus on such a minor character. However, a little checking reveals that Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2 (1986) tells the story of a future Lantern who plays a key role in the Corps final battle. This is not the firs time this annual has been referenced by Gibbons, so I guess I should not be surprised.
Is that a statue of Katma Tui on Korugar?
