Synopsis
Something is wrong with Wally West (aka Flash); he is experiencing a loss of power to the point where he can’t reach speeds over the sound of light. Examinations by his wife Linda and from Dr. Mid-Nite don’t reveal anything beyond what they know. Later, Raven comes to visit to help soothe his troubled mind. The Flash then decides to run a little. While he is away, a swarm of bees attack Linda at home. Wally returns in time to fend off the bees and protect Linda, with a little help from Black Lightning. Elsewhere, Queen Zazzala learns more about a device that freezes time. Meanwhile, Flash finds his kids and tells them something happened.
Review by Binkley (e-mail)
This is one of those rare comic book issues in which I can actually feel apathy towards the contents. I mean, it is not bad or terrible. In fact, if someone were to tell me they liked this issue I couldn’t really fault them or argue with them. But at the same time, it is not really good; there is nothing in the issue to really get me excited or interested in the next installment. It just kinda sits there, part of a larger storyline, but not doing enough to stand on its own. The perfect example I can think of is the dilemma Burnett has created with regards to Wally’s powers. While it has provided a reasonable framework in which to examine Wally’s life as well as a good reason to include various guest stars, the problem is a repeat of something that happened before to Wally, so does not seem that important to make me wonder what might happen to him.
