Synopsis

Then...Selina Kyle worked very hard to secure a new identity to protect her and her baby.  Now... Angelo Bend and the Film Freak have found Selina and are in her baby’s room, with Helena in Bend’s arms.  At the East End police station, Detective Lenahan is convinced there are two Catwomen.  He gets a call from Slam Bradley who is looking for his son.  A blaze of green light distracts him.  On the rooftops, Wildcat and Holly are playing cards when Green Lantern stops by.  He says the JSA needs Wildcat and the two take off, leaving Holly to head for home.  A snitch on the streets sees her and calls Lenahan with the information. Meanwhile, Selina turns off the light and with her night-vision goggles is able to take down both men and take back her baby.  As she runs away, Bend uses one of his angles to hit her in the heel.  The Film Freak takes his camera for a special shot, giving Selina the opening to take him down and then taken down Bend.  As she ties them up, Bend threatens to come after her again, no matter where she runs because he knows who she is.  With both men down, Selina calls Holly but she does not answer because at that moment the police have her surrounded.  Selina puts her baby to bed and then calls Zatanna for help.

Review by Binkley (e-mail)

At this point I would say this was an excellent ending to the story, but really, even though the title says it is a conclusion, it really is a transition into another story line.  Nothing has been concluded at all, including the knowledge of Helena’s father, but that is okay.  The next story promises to be interesting enough.  I have to credit Pfeifer with the guts to tackle this subject once more.  Zatanna and mind wipes started in Identity Crisis and was essentially the beginning of the Infinite Crisis.  One would have thought that with the One Year Later jump, that mind wiping would have been forgotten and dropped by the wayside.  Yet, the problem that caused it all still exists.  So, Pfeifer looks to deal with it and I gotta give him props.  It will be curious to see if this remains strictly a Catwoman problem or if others, specifically Batman, will get involved as well.

Normally, I would be annoyed at the taking killer syndrome displayed in this issue.  The scene I am referring to is the moment when the Film Freak feels the need for that extra shot, giving Selina the chance to punch him out.  Yet, his delay made sense given the character of the Film Freak.  Previous episodes have demonstrated that he is so wrapped up in his film fantasies that his camera really is the most important thing.  I chuckled when he went for that close-up because it would be exactly the kind of thing I would expect.  So, in this case it worked.
