Synopsis
Then...Catwoman breaks into a pharmacy for a home pregnancy kit. The results are positive. Now...Selina Kyle is awakened in the middle of night by her daughter Helena. Later she gets a phone call from Karon, who is worried that Holly has not come home. Holly (aka Catwoman) is on the roof a building with her arms tied behind her while Angelo Bend (aka Angleman) tells her he is going to kill her. Holly is able to get out of her restraints. She beats up Angelo and then heads home. At the Green Hornet bar, Slam Bradley is getting drunk. Detective Jim Lenhan of the GCPD stops by and asks Slam a few questions about Catwoman and the death of Black Mask. Drunk, Slam stumbles out of the bar where he runs into Ted Grant (aka Wild Cat). Meanwhile, Selina gets her daughter to sleep, but can’t sleep herself. She turns on the tv and to a show hosted by the Film Freak, who shows raw film footage of Angelo Bend getting beat up by Catwoman. Angel is on the streets heading home when he gets a call from the Film Freak offering Angelo a chance to restage the fight.

“But down there, it’s a different story. It’s dangerous. Very dangerous. Just ask your dad.”
If there was any doubt that Holly was a temporary or permanent replacement as Catwoman, this should settle any doubts: she is pretty much around to stay. I doubt they would allow her to live in this issue, only to kill her off a couple of issues down the road. I am just really annoyed that we had to suffer through the “Talking Killer” routine. It is a bad cliché: the bad guy talks and talks for so long, the good guy (or woman) is able to come up with a plan to escape. While I did catch the irony of the Angel Man failing because he decided to do something “different,” I wanted to throw the comic book down rather than continued to read. Luckily the rest of the issue was very good. The murder of Black Mask is not going to go away and I would not be surprised if Holly is somehow dragged into the police station and arrested simply because she happens to be wearing the Catwoman suit. Actually, now that I think about it, that would be a pretty good plot development. Another interesting development is the hints of Helena’s father. My first thought is that maybe it is Ted Grant, but another possibility would be Sam, which would make Slam a grandfather, and might explain his drinking.
I missed the AH! on the cover.
